Motivation

  • In conventional delay and sum (DAS) receive beamforming in ultrasound imaging the fundamental assumption is all reflections are diffuse in nature resulting in higher weightage for transducers closest to the pixel under reconstruction.
  • However, the diffuse DAS beamforming approaches doesn’t work for specular reflections due to their high directivity.
  • In this work a novel diffuse beamforming for specular objects is proposed.
